Why NewGround
In spite of significant commonalities in religious tradition and a shared
experience of discrimination in the United States, Muslims and Jews tend to have inaccurate
stereotypes about the other that are reinforced by the larger trends of
anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the United States. The strained relationship between the
communities inhibits their ability to work together on combating discrimination
and other important areas of shared concern.
NewGround’s mandate is to provide Muslims and Jews with the listening and conflict resolution skills to break down barriers and enable them to work together for the common good of all and for the shared issues that face both communities.

What makes NewGround unique
There are numerous projects and organizations that work to improve interfaith relations. NewGround fills a unique niche in the population it reaches and the lasting impact of the fellowship:
- Our professional facilitators use their training and expertise to structure the fellowship program to ensure lasting relationships and commitment to the ongoing engagement of the two communities.
- By targeting young professionals, NewGround reaches people with growing influence in their communities who also have not become entrenched in the current cycle of broken communication.
- As a partnership organization, NewGround attains the support and trust of both communities who can be confident that the organization will accurately represent their needs.
